2006

  • 1st Feb, 7 Youth with 1 computer (bought on loan) set out to start YouthNet.
  • First organization in Nagaland to start RTI Campaign reaching out to all 11 districts.

2008

  • First-of-its-kind statewide youth consultation on livelihood, in partnership with 17 apex student unions led by NSF & ENSF under the global YES campaign. The outcome ‘THE VOICE UNCENSORED’ goes on to become an important document for youth policies & programs.

2009

  • The Voice-Uncensored becomes a Case study for the 5th GLOBAL YES SUMMIT IN LEKSAND, SWEDEN.

2011

  • YouthNet and its RTI work features in NBSC’s class 10 English textbook.

  • YouthNet celebrates 5 years and launches “YouthNet Opportunity Express,” a weekly paper on employment.

  • 1st Young Leaders Connect (YLC) held at Kisama. A YouthNet initiative to get young leaders & achievers of the North East on one platform, headed by Indian Football Icon, Bhaichung Bhutia.

2013

  • “The Entrepreneur” – an annual emerging entrepreneur training and business plan competition launched.

2014

  • “Impact 5000 by 18” launched in partnership with the Government of Nagaland, a five-year program to focus on the private sector and entrepreneurship.

2016

  • YouthNet team celebrates its 10th Anniversary with prayer and fasting, and gears up for Nagaland Youth Summit on 26-27 February, commemorating its 10th Anniversary.

  • Lezo Putsure is the YouthNet Director.

2018

  • Made in Nagaland Centre, launched in Kohima in June 2018.

  • MOU with LAHI & RMSA for Vocational Education in schools.

2019

  • Hekani Jakhalu wins the Nari Shakti Puruskar by the President of India for YouthNet’s exemplary work on youth empowerment.

2020

  • LaunchPad (a career guidance & employability skill development program for 44 GHSS) in partnership with the Department of Youth Resources and Sports and the Department of School Education, Government of Nagaland.

2021

  • Nune Chase is the YouthNet Director.

  • Launched YouthNet Incubation Centre (YIC).

  • Initiated Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC).

  • Implementation of JICA’s Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP).

  • YouthNet Van Dhan Vikas Kendra Cluster (VDVKC) secured three State Van Dhan Awards 2021 from TRIFED, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, GoI, including first-place recognitions for ‘Scale of diversified operations at VDVKC’, ‘Maximum range of value-added items produced & marketed’, and ‘Best Innovation and Most Creative Marketing Idea’.

2022

  • Launched IBM STEM For Girls in Nagaland in six districts: Dimapur, Chumoukedima, Niuland, Kohima, Tseminyu, and Kiphire.

  • Implementation of Nagaland Education Project – The Lighthouse (NECTAR)

  • YouthNet, in a PPP with the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Govt. of Nagaland, established the Livelihood Business Incubator (LBI) at the Made In Nagaland Centre, Kohima, under the ASPIRE scheme by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India.

  • A state-of-the-art Food Processing Training Center was set up at YouthNet’s main office as part of the Livelihood Business Incubator (LBI).

2023

  • Introduced the EY STEM program for girls.

  • Initiated EDCs in 11 new districts.

  • Implemented the CareerAware program.

  • Launched the Banana Fibre Extraction Unit in Bade village

  • The first startup incubator for persons with disabilities in Northeast India.

  • Launched the Mobius Young Climate Leaders for the Himalayan Development Project.

  • YouthNet secured the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS) under DPIIT for the YouthNet Incubation Centre (YIC).

  • YouthNet is recognized as an Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) by the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland, for the implementation of central sector schemes under the Ministry of MSME.

  • YouthNet is recognized as a state government agency for the implementation of handloom and handicraft-based projects by the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland.

  • Made in Nagaland Centre expanded with two new outlets in Chümoukedima, Nagaland, and the establishment of the Centre at Nagaland Emporium in New Delhi.

  • IBM STEM for Girls Program was successfully implemented in partnership with Quest Alliance and the Department of School Education.

2024

  • Startup Growth & SISFS Impact: YouthNet Incubation Centre facilitated 85% of all new startup incorporations in Nagaland, contributing to a 170% growth rate. Through SISFS, 3 crore was invested in 10 startups, strengthening early-stage entrepreneurship in the region.

  • Women Empowerment via Digital Commerce: Through the WEE Program with GAME and Amazon, 80 rural women entrepreneurs listed 100+ products on Amazon. As Nagaland’s only Amazon Fulfillment Center, YouthNet provided end-to-end support in digital marketing, compliance, and fulfillment.

  • GENESIS Program Implementation: YouthNet was selected as the sole implementing agency in Nagaland for MeitY’s GENESIS Scheme, enabling startups to scale innovative digital solutions and strengthening the state’s startup ecosystem.

  • Regional Climate Leadership Expansion: After a successful phase in Nagaland, YouthNet’s partnership under the Mobius Young Climate Leaders project will expand to 6 NE states, leading regional implementation, monitoring, and capacity-building for climate education.
