Tour Guide Training for Naga youths successfully completed at YouthNet

 

The tour guide training program kicked started earlier this year in the month of August initiated by YouthNet in association with Pier Tours sponsored by the Department of Planning & Coordination, Government of Nagaland and supported by the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland. The training program was successfully completed by 56 participants in total. The main objective was to enhance and impart skills to eligible youth who are interested in building their career in the tourism sector having its target group of youth in aged 18 years and above.

The training program was brought to a close with a felicitation program held at the YouthNet Main office today. The felicitation program was graced by the Hon’ble Minister of Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Neiba Kronu and Shri I.Kitto Zhimomi, Commissioner &
Secretary, Department of Tourism as the guest of honor.

In his address, the guest of honour, I Kitto Zhimomi stressed that as tour guides the participants are front-liners of the tourism sector and he requested the participants to present their best to tourists and focus on being good story-tellers as we have many stories which are unknown to the world outside.

The chief guest, Shri Neiba Kronu in his address said the Nagaland tourism has a great scope for growth unlike other sectors. He also stressed the reason why tourism sector has a great potential is because Nagas are hospitable and welcoming people by nature. He urged the tour guides to smartly strategise on
taking advantage of the opportunities available in the tourism sector.

The tour guide program also opened the opportunity to 6 trainees to get further training in a 10 day intensive outdoor training program at Hanifl Centre in Uttarakhand.
