Er. Zale Neikha launches LaunchPad

Er. Zale Neikha, Advisor, Youth Resources & Sports (Govt. of Nagaland) Launches LaunchPad, a Career Guidance and Employability Skill Development Program. The launching program was held at YouthNet Head Office Kohima on 18th August 2020. LaunchPad is a self-paced online training program for the 12 standard students of all Government Secondary Schools across Nagaland. The program objectives of LaunchPad is to guide students discover their ideal career path, enable the students to look beyond traditional jobs and to assist the students transition from school to work.

Er. Zale Neikha, sharing his thoughts on the occasion, he said that the department has been working for the upliftment of the youths in the state since 1986 and beyond sports and music. He also stressed on the state’s high unemployment rate in India and hope this program will help students discover more job and career platforms. He also expressed his appreciation to the Department of School Education, Government of Nagaland for their continuous support throughout their various department initiative.

Hekani Jakhalu, Founder & Chair, YouthNet, in her welcoming note, expressed her gratitude to the Department of Youth Resources & Sports and the Department of School Education, Government of Nagaland without which this program could not have materialized. She said that the COVID19 Pandemic lockdown shouldn’t hamper the vision to help the young people in the state but take advantage of the technology and the digital platforms and continue to do so even in the days to come. Having closely worked with the youths in the state for the past 14 years, she says the team is confident to help towards the aspirations of the young people.

Briefing on LaunchPad, Nuneseno Chase, Director of Programs, YouthNet, added that the program will help students access to learning anytime and anywhere.

Mr. Alun Hansing, Secretary, Department of Youth resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland also shared his thoughts at the launching program, where he appreciated the team for coming up with this initiative and concept for the students. He hope and believe that this program largely to be imparted through online will enhance the educational system as will as benefit the receiver i.e. the students.

Mr. Shanavas C, IAS, Principal Director, Department of School Education, Government of Nagaland, also added that most students starts too late in understanding themselves and decide their career choices. He said that this program for the 12 standard student is the right time to mentor them and help them set ready for the right career paths.

Also gracing the launching program were the YouthNet team, media officials and the various government officials and dignitaries including Ms. Akumla Chuba, NCS, Director, Department of Youth resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland, were present at the program.

LaunchPad is an initiative of the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland, in partnership with YouthNet and supported by the Department of School Education, Government of Nagaland.
